Here at Dynasty Photography we have outlined some familiar questions that you may have about what is involved in arranging your Newborn Session. To help you along all you have to do is click on the question and you will be brought straight to the answer. If there is something that we haven’t covered please do not hesitate to get in touch.
WHEN SHOULD I CALL TO SCHEDULE & WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE MY SESSION?
Before your baby is born! It is so important to plan ahead. Capturing your newborn within the first two weeks while they are still sleepy and curled up, can make all the difference in your newborn portraits. Dynasty schedule fills up about six/eight weeks in advance so please call to schedule your newborn appointment before your baby is born.
Since we never really know when your little one will arrive we will put you on our calendar to hold a spot for you (this is only confirmed after you have processed your booking fee). When your baby is born we will move your appointment time & date accordingly.
If your baby comes early or if your baby is already born, don’t panic! We always do our best to squeeze newborns into our schedule and older babies take beautiful portraits too.
IS ONE WEEK TOO EARLY FOR MY NEWBORN SESSION?
Absolutely not! Newborn babies photograph is best between 6-15 days old. At this point they are still very sleepy and like to curl up as if they were still in the womb. It can take up to three hours for a newborn session, we leave plenty of time for feedings, nappies changes and breaks for mommy and baby. Call us as soon as you are ready, and don’t worries if you think you over the “2 week” mark, let us schedule you in.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE THE BABY, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Contact us as soon as you can, and we will arrange a suitable time and day for your session.
WHAT SHOULD BABY WEAR?
Dynasty loves to photograph newborns swaddled in wraps with lots of texture and snuggled up tight, if you have a special blanket or two that’s fine we can use that too. We will plan out your session and choose from our extensive supply of newborn hats, bows and headbands that coordinate beautifully with our blankets and props that Natasha will use to stylize your images. Colours will be discussed with the client during the consultation.
WHAT ABOUT POSING THE BABY, CAN I DECIDE ON WHAT I WANT?
While we appreciate in this new age of technology and online access on everything “baby” including Websites such as Pinterest. Unfortunately Poses aren’t something that the parent can dictate…
If there is something specific that they have seen and it interests them and it is a style of photography that is catalogued in our portfolio, we will be more than happy to try to get that shoot for you, but not every baby will do every pose and not every photographer is happy to do poses that are not deemed as safe. So we would suggest that if you have been searching the web for inspiration that you discuss this with your photographer before booking your session, to avoid disappointment.
Your Session will be carefully planned out to the last detail, which includes colour changes, the addition of hats or bonnets, wraps or headbands. Each pose that your baby carries out during their session is done with careful consideration to avoid waking baby and that they remain comfortable and safe. Once your session has started, we would not advice for any changes to made that may or may not disturb baby or interrupt the posing sequence.
We would strongly suggest that you research who might be the best photographer for you according to your needs or requirements. Look at their portfolio and contact them by telephone and discuss the details by phone, they may not be the photographer for you and that’s ok, you will find one that suits you and one could be recommended to you.
CAN I CIRCUMCISE MY BABY BOY BEFORE THE SESSION?
NO!!! Please wait until after your session. We will be tightly swaddling your boy naked in wraps and delicate fabrics. The fabrics are soft; however a fresh circumcision is very fragile and often uncomfortable for a newborn. When we wrap and unwrap, along with change his position or pose, the circumcision can become irritated even further which leads to a VERY unhappy baby who is not able to be photographed. We do not want to make your baby hurt or uncomfortable.
Please note, we feel very strongly about this and your session may be cancelled.
WHERE IS MY SESSION HELD, AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
New-born sessions take place in the Dynasty Studio or the baby’s own home environment.
Dynasty recommends allowing (2-4 hours) for your baby’s photographs to be taken.
If your Session is taking place in our Studio we suggest bringing the following;
For the Baby:
Please bring loads of milk as babies tend to feed a lot more often during a photo session.
1 warm blanket (We do supply our own but baby might have a favourite already so bring this along)
Pacifier/soother (really helpful during posing & soothing)
What should Mom’s & Dad’s wear?
Keep it simple. Portraits of mom and baby where there is skin on skin contact are beautiful. If you want to have portraits done like this wear a dark colored tank top or cream colored. For those who are more self conscious, wearing a jersey knit / cotton
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY BABIES NEWBORN SESSION IN MY HOME?
If you worried about your at home session, don’t just relax!! I have two nieces, I am very familiar with the stress, fatigue, and emotions those first days home with baby may bring. Please, don’t worry about having a perfect house. I just need a little space and am more than happy to move a few things around if needed (and move them back). All that I would ask is that baby is fed before the session starts. Most of the babies that I photograph are on a 3hr window of feeding, so if baby is not due for another hour when I arrive, don’t worry we will stop if baby is feeling hungry or needs attention.
New-born sessions can take 2 / 4 hours, allowing enough time for feeding and comforting. In most cases, there are always occasions of pooping, feeding, winding etc. so all of this has to be taken into account, the most important thing to remember is ‘we are not in a hurry’ and to keep the baby as relaxed and as comfortable as possible.
Babies are little people, individuals with their own likes, dislikes and personality. If your baby wants a feed, we’ll take a break. If baby wants a cuddle then have a cuddle. I’ll work with you and your baby to have a successful session. You and your baby will always call the shots!
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR PHOTOSHOOT.
If you are breastfeeding please refer to our “Foods you should avoid” we gave you our Product Guide, this is very important as the food you eat plays a major impact on babies condition and mood, please avoid listed foods at least 24/48hrs before the photoshoot, you might find avoiding these foods helps your baby sleep much better at night and find it useful for the future. How or Why are we giving you this information: we have a background in baby nutrition & are experienced in our role as a professional newborn photographer, there is more to taking your babies portraits than just the click of the camera, the welfare of your baby is our utmost priority.
Please take our advice and do not deter from our instructions. Your Breastfeeding guide should not be treated lightly, your cooperation with us will ultimately affect how your newborn settles during your session and failure to adhere to our advice may hinder the flow of our session and may result in your session being cancelled.
Booking Fees
Booking Fees taken for any portrait photography session are non-refundable except in the event that the Dynasty (photographer) cancels the booking.
The Client may cancel a session at any time to reschedule, however cancellations without rescheduling will forfeit any monies paid.
If you have a session booked and have been given a time & date or suggested time/date by your photographer and do not confirm you are putting your booking fee at risk. Please see our terms on Booking Fees.
When your session is booked, that date and time is reserved. Other sessions are scheduled around your allotted time and our day is planned out accordingly. Depending on the type of session you have scheduled, time is spent coordinating the session details, emails, notifications, setting up contracts etc and in most cases travelling.
If you have cancelled at the last minute or we have travelled to your location and have a no-show ( nobody is home), it is impossible for us to refill that session appointment.
Although sometimes unavoidable if the appropriate notice had been given, your scheduled time could have been used to schedule another client. Therefore, it is an important to keep your scheduled date & time, and give the necessary cancellation notice (5 Days).
However, we do understand that circumstances occur beyond our control and you may reschedule your session one time with your deposit being transferable to that rescheduled date. If you are rescheduling, Please notify me at least 5 days prior to your session date and request a new date and time. This gives me the opportunity to fill your spot with another client or adjust my schedule.
WHAT ABOUT BOOKING FEES, HOW DOES THAT WORK?
For our Maternity, Newborn or Cake Smash, Children and Family you will need to secure your booking with a Non Refundable Booking Fee of €50.00. The Balance of your Session Fee will be due on the day of your session.
WHAT ABOUT A TRAVEL FEE?
We charge a transportation fee in addition to the package price for callout session which depends on your location.
There is TRAVEL FEE & HOME SERVICE FEE for Newborn Sessions +70
Reschedule Policy
For AT HOME SESSIONS, Rescheduling due to weather concerns will be determined by Dynasty Photography. In these instances there are no additional charges associated to the reschedule. Any other reschedule outside of your agreement with Dynasty Photography shall forfeit the previous deposit and a new deposit will be required for the new reschedule date.
If you must cancel your session, your booking fee is non-refundable.
If your session was booked and paid for my Gift Voucher and you have decided to cancel your session, please note that Gift Vouchers are Non-Refundable and you will forfeit any monies paid. Gift vouchers must be used within 6 months of issue and are non transferable.
Last minute cancellations on a booked session or cancellations on a rescheduled session will also forfeit any deposits/monies paid.
SIBLINGS AT THE STUDIO
Please note we do not force siblings to have their photo taken, this process is out of their comfort zone and not all children find this experience pleasing. We do not guarantee that a sibling setup will be done, this is totally up to the children and how they cooperate with the photographer. We do not allow parents to force their children through this process.
If Siblings are included in your photo-session, we would generally start with this setup and ask that one parent take them away for the remainder of the photoshoot. Returning approx. 2hrs gives us sufficient time to progress with the Newborn.
During the photoshoot our clients are responsible for siblings and other children that came with them that are walking or crawling, It is not our priority to monitor your children. If we feel that your child is loud, unsettling or showing signs of boisterous behaviour with the potential to damage any items in our studio we will kindly ask you to remove the child from the studio immediately. It can also be quite distracting for the photographer who needs 100% attention at all times on your newborn.
Recording videos and taking photos with phones/cameras is strictly prohibited unless agreed with us.
We are quite strict on ensuring that everyone who attends the studio is in good health. If you are in any doubt about having a cold/flu or any children have viral issues, unfortunately your session cannot proceed. The health of the photographer is paramount and contagious health issues that may affect the photographer, a newborn or any other client of Dynasty Photography are considered grounds for cancellation. You are also at risk of loosing your booking fee as this will not be refunded.
The Booking fee €50 formally books your portrait appointment, your time & date will not be secured without it. Your Session time & date is at risk of cancellation if not processed within 12hrs.

Questions & Answers about your Images

REVIEWING YOUR IMAGES & ORDERING FROM YOUR GALLERY.
Approximately after 7-18 business working days your Images will be ready to be viewed. We will arrange for your viewing/ordering appointment to be scheduled. Dynasty will provide a minimum of 15/25 images for you to choose from.
We do provide an Online Viewing Service.
The images shown will be our finished product. We do not include images straight out of our camera. The images from your session are available for a period of 7-18 days from the date of release, unless you are participating in Milestone Session. After that time, only ordered images will be archived, all others will be purged or reserved for studio use.
Viewing & Ordering appointments are complimentary within the first 10 days from gallery completion, after this time a charge of €35 applies to schedule a time & date. (Why is there a charge, your viewing/ordering appointment generally takes approx. an hour and this time has to be scheduled into your calendar just like our portrait sessions). The charge will be deducted from your overall purchases made during your appointment.
The photographer owns copyright and creative content of all the images taken during your session.
The Purchase of Digital images does not include transfer of ownership.
If you have purchased digital copies of your finished images automatically are given Print Rights (permission to print in any quantity and any size you wish). This does not give entitlement or permission to edit, adjust, crop or amend these images in any way.
While we respect your request to privacy, in order to evolve and grow as a professional our images require critique and in doing so help us develop and better our skills. With this in mind while all clients personal details and anonymity remain private (names, locations etc are not discussed), should we feel an image is worthy of acknowledgment for composition and creativity, for entry to Board Certified Award Submissions within our Industry, for updating our techniques within our portfolio, or for our vendors this inclusion is made without prejudice.
Again, please discuss the types of concerns you may have, it may turn out that our protection process for our images may be sufficient.

The Booking fee formally books your portrait appointment, your time & date will not be secured without it.
The balance of your package is due on the day of your photoshoot.
Your Session time & date is at risk of cancellation if not processed within 24hrs.
This photoshoot cannot be swapped out for another unless we are given 48 hours notice.
Your studio time (2hrs) and setup will already be prepared for your arrival and any changes at the last minute will mean affecting other appointments throughout the course of our day, and less time will be dedicated to photographing your baby if changes are to be made to our setups.
WHAT ABOUT PRIVACY DURING THE SESSION?
We would ask all of our clients not to have Mobile Phones, Cameras or other photo devices in use during our sessions.

We also collect personally identifiable information (including name, age, email, telephone) when you complete a contact form on our website, as part of the process, personal information you give us such as your name, address, telephone, babies age and email address will only be used to complete your enquiry.
Your email will automatically be added to our database and included in our Monthly Newsletter updates.
We do not sell your information to Third Parties because we just don’t have time or any interest in doing so. Our Site does use cookies that help us gather information as confirmed above which in turn helps us make our site better if adjustments need to be made for a browsing viewing experience.
